Hi, my name is Giuliana, and I am the parent of a 5 year old boy with special needs. He has a diagnosis of Autism, he is transitioning to kindergarten. so we have an IEP next week. He has made a lot of progress and he is currently attending a preschool colaborative class (special needs children and regular students).
I have been calling the program specialist asking if I can visit some programs, but she has said there is not much options, and besides my son has made so much progress that a regular class is recomended. I asked about different programs for high functioning children, but she said there was no options, only regular ed, or a special ed class. We are with LAUSD, is that legal, can they deny giving info before the IEP, or insist that you have the IEP before visiting any programs?.
