Michael Savage: Who’s the Real Fool?

autism, bullies, controversy, Michael Savage, news, problem behavior  image from USAToday.com

I purposely avoided this controversy for two reasons.  First, because I know what my son is and what he is not.  He is a very bright child who happens to need extra support in several areas in order to function in the world.  He is not by any means a fool, moron, idiot, or fake as Michael Savage described most autistic children last week.

My second reason for not discussing it was because I didn’t want to add to the Savage getting what he really wanted from making such nasty statements: attention.  He certainly did that, got attention.  So much in fact that one of his big advertisers, Aflac, is pulling their funding from his show.  They spent about $90 million last year.  Oops!

He tried to do some damage control, but I sincerely doubt the sincerity of his stated intentions.  So I’ll just be happy that all the attention has come back to smack him right in his big mouth.

I read the article and was appalled at how some people are quick to open their mouths and spout stupidity. He is just another one.

I had not heard about this until last night when I saw him on Larry King. I could not believe the stupid things that he was saying. Like I said in my post today, people like him and others who don’t know just need to shut up about things that they know nothing about.

His idea of damage control just seemed all the more terrible to me.

    Not good at all.

Oh crimony, I completely missed this!!! I’m so sorry he’s such an idiot. I listened to him one day on the radio, but turned him off after a half hour. He’s angry, he rants and raves about stupid things, and he just wants to be controversial so he can get publicity. I can’t stand the guy!

You’re right - he is the real fool. I bet his lawyer is telling him to shut up, and quick, before someone sues him.

Frankly, he’s the fool, the idiot and the moron all wrapped into one.

Anyone who has ever met a child with autism, especially one affected as severely as some, would know better than to say something so hateful.

I do not personally know anyone suffering from autism, but I was appalled when reading about his comments. I can’t believe some of the things people say just because they can. Unfortunately, there will (but hopefully not) be people who believe what he said.
